In the age where an increasing number of us are wired 24/7, how we consume news has changed. With more people than ever getting their news from online sources, SCC has worked to find ways to provide information online as well.
We're proud to present the all-new Vision Online. The Vision Online is the electronic companion piece to our popular semi-annual Vision publication that is delivered to residents of the Great River Region of Southeast Iowa as well as friends and alumni far and wide.
In addition to containing all the stories as the print version, the Vision Online contains links to videos photos, web sites, articles, and other cool SCC-related stuff.
Jeff Ebbing, SCC Director of Marketing and Communications says that Vision staff now has the ability to provide the story behind the story.
"It's easy for us to shoot video as we're gathering info to write the articles. Plus we can't always include all the info in our final print articles due to space limitations. With the Vision Online, we have an easy way to deliver more content to our readers."
Ebbing adds that in addition to just reading or watching, visitors to the Vision Online can comment on the articles, photos, and videos. And through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, they can share things that interest them with their friends, thus spreading the word about SCC to an even broader audience.
"If you've got something to say about what you read, we'd love to hear from you. Today's information sharing is very much a two-way street. We're excited to have others spread the word and join the conversation."
The Vision Online also encourages readers to share their stories or provide story ideas. With nearly 100,000 alumni, it's impossible for SCC staff to keep tabs on everybody.
"Some of our most interesting alumni are those who are least likely to call attention to themselves. But there's always somebody out there who knows. We're always excited to learn what our alumni are up to."
So we encourage you to explore our inaugural edition of the Vision Online. We hope you like what you see.
And be sure to let us know you stopped by.
