SCC Women's Basketball

SCC Blackhawks defeat NIACC will host 1st round of Regionals.

Saturday the Blackhawks defeated NIACC 73 to 61 and will host the 1st round of the Regionals Tuesday nite at 7:00pm vs Iowa Lakes at Cardinal Stritch Gymnasium. The Blackhawks finish the regular season in 3rd place in the Conference with a record of 17 wins and 12 losses.

Wednesday nite the Blackhawks travelled to Cedar Rapids to play the Kirkwood Eagles. The Eagles won 78 to 55. Lidi Garcia led the Hawks in scoring with 19 points.

SCC Blackhawks beat Marshalltown.

Saturday the Blackhawks defeated the Marshalltown Tigere 86 to 68. The Hawks started fast and finished even faster. Blackhawks led 35 to 30 at halftime. Hazaria Washington led the Hawks in scoring with 24 points. Lidi Garcia added 21 and Breana McCullough chipped in 14.

Scc Blackhawks lose to Iowa Central 90 to 58.

The Blackhawks travelled to Fort Dodge Wednesday nite and took on the Tritons of Iowa Central.The Blackhawks came out running to start the game and that led to a lead  at halftime against the # 8 team 35 to 33. The second half was all Tritons as they put up fifty seven points on the Hawks. Hazaria Washington led the Hawks in scoring with 17 points

The Blackhawks ran their record to 15  and 10 as they defeated Southwestern Comm. College 91 to 71. Hazaria Washington led the Blackhawks with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Lidi Garcia was 2 points shy of a triple double with 8 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.

SCC Blackhawks win thriller.

For those of you that missed the game, the Blackhawks won a thrilling and exciting game against a very good Lincoln Land Logger basketball team 60 to 58. The game was tight throughout with only five points seperating both teams at various times during the game.

The Blackhawks held a two point lead with sixteen seconds to play and the Loggers  had the ball. Lincoln Land scored on a tough shot with seven seconds left on the clock. The Hawks inbounded the ball to Gina Pena who then found Hazaria Washington streaking down the middle of the court for a lay up and was fouled in the act of shooting with two seconds left on the clock.

Hazaria Washington made both free throws for a 60 to 58 lead and a very exciting win for the Blackhawks. Washington led the Hawks in scoring with 28 points.

Monday nite the Blackhawks ran into a very inspired Ellsworth team. Ellsworth led from start to finish as they defeated the Hawks 71 to 55. Hazaria Washington led the Hawks in scoring with 26 points.

Blackhawks win in overtime 73 - 71.

The SCC Blackhawks defeated the DMACC Bears Saturday at Cardinal Stritch Gym in overtime 73 - 71. What an exciting game it was. SCC jumped out to an early lead 12 to 4 and DMACC quickly tied it up and it was back and forth the next 35 minutes. Lidi Garcia led the Hawks in scoring with 20 points. Lidi was one rebound shy of a triple double, 20 points, 10 steals and 9 rebounds.
